At ShrimpKeepers, I take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how I collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information I Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, I collect:

  • Email address (for account recovery and notifications)
  • Display name (optional)
  • Authentication credentials (securely hashed)

Tank and Shrimp Data

The core functionality of ShrimpKeepers involves storing your aquarium data:

  • Tank names, volumes, and species
  • Water parameters (TDS, GH, KH, pH, temperature)
  • Colony information (population, berried females, events)
  • Remineralization calculations and settings
  • Notes and logs you create

Usage Information

I automatically collect certain information to improve the app:

  • App version and device type
  • Feature usage analytics (aggregated, anonymized)
  • Crash reports (to fix bugs)
  • Performance metrics

How I Use Your Information

I use your information to:

  • Provide the service: Store and sync your tank data across devices
  • Improve the app: Analyze usage patterns to add features you need
  • Customer support: Respond to your questions and bug reports
  • Send notifications: Parameter alerts, reminders (with your consent)
  • Prevent fraud: Protect against abuse and unauthorized access

I do NOT use your data for advertising. There are no ads in ShrimpKeepers.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard practices:

  • Data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
  • Cloud infrastructure provided by trusted providers (Firebase/Google Cloud)
  • Regular security audits and updates
  • Access controls limiting who can view data
  • Automatic backups to prevent data loss

Your tank data is stored in secure cloud servers to enable syncing across devices and prevent data loss if you change phones.

Third-Party Services

I use the following third-party services:

  • Apple App Store / Google Play: For app distribution and in-app purchases. They have their own privacy policies.
  • Firebase (Google): For authentication, database, and analytics. Firebase Privacy Policy
  • RevenueCat: For subscription management. RevenueCat Privacy Policy

These services may collect their own data according to their privacy policies. I recommend reviewing them.

I Do NOT Sell Your Data

I will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Your shrimp data stays your shrimp data. I are funded by app subscriptions, not by selling user data.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: Request a copy of all data I have about you
  • Export: Export your data in CSV format (Premium feature)
  • Correction: Update or correct your personal information
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format

GDPR Compliance (EU Residents)

If you are located in the European Union, you have additional rights under GDPR:

Our legal basis for processing your data is:

Children's Privacy

ShrimpKeepers is not intended for children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe I have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

Data Retention

I retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:

  • Personal data is deleted within 30 days
  • Aggregated, anonymized analytics may be retained
  • Backup copies are deleted within 90 days
